This one-day seminar on analytic microlocal analysis and its applications will take place at the Department of Mathematics & Data Science of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) on Thursday, 3 September 2026. All lectures will take place in room G6.60 (seminar room).

An introduction to analytic microlocal analysis
We begin with a brief introduction to wavefront sets and pseudodifferential operators, motivated by microlocal elliptic regularity and the propagation of singularities for PDEs. The main focus will be on what distinguishes the analytic setting; in particular, microlocal analytic continuation, and the role of the FBI transform. We conclude with an application to a uniqueness result for the local linearized Calderón problem. No prior knowledge of microlocal analysis is assumed.

Quasinormal modes and dual modes for black hole spacetimes In this talk I will describe a Fredholm theory for quasinormal modes on black hole spacetimes that arose in my earlier work and discuss some more recent developments on their structure and properties in joint work with Oliver Petersen.
