Dooms has authored two books on mathematics for the general public and writes a monthly column in EOS Science and De Tijd (the Flemish Financial Times).
"I am honored to be appointed as Chair of the Education Committee," said Professor Dooms. "At a time when we face significant challenges—such as declining European results on international assessments and the rapid emergence of AI which will undoubtedly impact learning —I am committed to working closely with my colleagues to enhance our educational programs. Together, we will navigate these challenges by fostering innovation and promoting academic excellence, ensuring meaningful learning experiences that prepare our students for the future."
In her new role, Ann Dooms will lead the Committee's mission to address educational issues in mathematics, including pedagogy and creativity in mathematics education. The Committee supports a broad network in mathematical education while maintaining connections between national mathematics societies.
